Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine enlisted FLS Creative Agency to produce an Integrated Report that would authentically reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability. The goal was to go beyond the traditional approach, utilizing powerful imagery to convey the key principles that guide the company’s operations.

The project encountered challenges related to access restrictions and safety concerns during the shooting process. These challenges required careful planning and coordination to ensure the safety of the team while capturing the necessary footage.
Conceptualization
The agency collaborated closely with Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine representatives to understand their vision for the Integrated Report. Direction from the client helped shape the creative process, emphasizing key scenes and moments that were essential to showcase.
Design and Development
During the shoot, the team focused on technical aspects such as lighting, composition, and lens selection. Natural light was used for authenticity, while off-camera flash added impact. Different lenses were employed to capture vastness, detailing, and close-ups in various mine settings.

Integrated Report: A Visual Journey

FLS embarked on a transformative project in collaboration with Inkamana Abbey to commemorate its 100-year anniversary. The client envisioned more than a mere documentary; they sought a communication initiative that would showcase the Abbey’s rich history. Understanding this, FLS proposed a solution that extended beyond traditional video production. Our goal was not just to create an entertaining piece but to craft a communication tool that would deeply engage the audience and align seamlessly with the values of the Abbey.
Highlights
The project was a significant learning experience, one that I will carry with me to the next big projects. It challenged me to dig deeper as a scriptwriter and really showed and challenged my potential. And the fact that the storyline and narrative was so well-received is incredible. Exploring the Catholic religion, its values, and practices added depth to the narrative.
Challenges
The production size and complexity, with multiple shooting days, presented logistical challenges. Client feedback on the narrative flow caused delays in post-production.
Final Product Impact
Despite challenges, the documentary was well-received at the premiere, evoking nostalgia, reflection, and emotions.
